On Sunday, the Chicago Urban Socialites hosted an intimate, invite only social mixer, themed Beau Brummell. George Bryan “Beau” Brummell was an iconic 18^th century British figure who became known as the arbiter of men’s fashion among the social elite. Mr. Brummell was legendary for polishing his boots with champagne and credited as being the father of dandyism.  Committeemen Maurice Bird, Rodney Mitchell and Michael Jennings successfully personified the spirit of Beau Brummell in their attention to detail. As guest conversed and discussed the gentrification of Harlem, post former President Bill Clinton’s headquarters, soft music played as hor dourves and drinks were catered. In addition to the normal wine & spirits, three specialty cocktails were supplied and imagine my delight to discover one was named “The Deo” and it definitely lived up to its name. The event was a doozy and a beautiful conglomeration of upwardly men and women of our community on a Sunday evening. Host Maurice, Rodney and Michael are congratulated on a job well done!!!  My glass is raised gentlemen…Deo
