Following the highly anticipated and highly disappointing collaboration between Jay Z and Barneys New York, I lost all interest in pop-stars and designer collaborations. As a lover of luxury menswear, I felt as if pop-stars failed to understand the essence of menswear and were only capable of making a mockery of fashion while attaching outrageous prices to the garments and somehow feeling fab and accomplished. Hit maker and fashionisto Pharrell Williams came thru this past week and completely changed the game. Pharrell’s taste for luxury menswear is not foreign to us. He is consistently one of the best dressed gentlemen, respected in and out of fashion circles. Pharrell’s collaboration with French sportswear company Moncler is very impressive and provocative. His line of sunglasses called The Moncler Lunettes will be on everyone’s most coveted list. As I think about it, Pharrell is no stranger to design. He is responsible for Billionaire Boys Club and also previously collaborated with Louis Vuitton.
“This is a collaboration and if anything, I feel like Moncler is endorsing me,” Pharrell says of his collection. “The world is about to see itself through the lenses of Moncler and Pharrell Williams.”
I’m excited to see the real fashion kids rocking a pair of these lunettes…Deo
