As I began pre-production for this year’s list, the one piece of advice that kept being uttered to me from the 2014 class was “Deo, many will apply but choose wisely. This year’s class need to be able to uphold the legacy we established last year!” What a huge charge this was in itself! Last year, as a newly established and budding entity with only 6 months under its belt, we attempted this herculean task to highlight our choice of the top flyy & eligible bachelors among our peers across the country. It was a lot of work but the finished product was so well received. This article alone was hailed as one of our first epic viral articles, sending us into the upper echelons of social media. To date, it has been shared over 700 times and viewed over 12,000 times in 130 countries. After a few nights of cocktails and strategizing, I was finally ready with a clear and concise theme. This year’s class is in honor of “And God Made Man.” We wanted to highlight the diversity and intricacies of manhood. The gentlemen selected this year are not only beautiful specimens of creation, but they also come with a story. Although they are scattered across the country, each recipient is bonded by the common theme of upward mobility, goals and accomplishments. I am confident that the gentlemen have upheld The Flyy-Life brand and I hope you enjoy the article as much as I did putting it together. Cheers gentlemen on a job well done….Deo

Waddup Flyy-Life!!! This is ya boi Supaman! First I’d love to thank you guys for all the love, support, and consideration. I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan but I call the great State of Texas home. I just moved to Virginia this year, shout out to the DMV folks! I’m an Active Duty member of the US Armed Forces and have 10 years of honorable service with numerous commendations and awards. My in-depth medical experience on multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Nursing at Central Texas Veterans Affairs Hospital has prepared me for a multitude of critical thinking opportunities in austere environments. Marvin Hemphill- Buffalo, NY

Wassup Flyy-Life!! My Name is Marvin Hemphill III and I’m a 26 year old Virgo. I was born and raised in a single family home by my mother in Buffalo NY, and this is where I am currently residing with plans to hopefully move in the coming summer of 2015. Growing up I participated in plenty of athletic activities such as football, basketball, track and some volleyball. Basketball has always been my fav tho. I feel it was engrained into my body and the talent was passed down to me from my dad who also played all the way through college. I played basketball up to 8th grade where I graduated from a catholic school called Saints Peter & Paul located in Williamsville NY. These were some of my best years growing up. After I graduated, I was placed in a home school setting until my senior year. I then attended a public high school called Bennett in which I graduated in 2007. While in school, I was represented by Launch Model and Talent and briefly worked local jobs here in Buffalo. Currently I am working for a company which gives aide to people with disabilities. I feel this is my calling and I enjoy what I do. I have always felt the need to give back in some way shape or form. I started working with people with disabilities at age 15 and worked with senior citizens with mental disabilities. In 2010 I began to work with children with Autism in a group home setting, teaching them daily living skills. I have learned so much from working in this line of work and it continues to humble and inspire me. It takes a lot of patience and kindness to be able to maintain in this field because it is not always a walk in the park. But I am glad to say I’m coming up on 5 years of working in this capacity. My future plans are to own my own affordable exotic car rental company placed in major cities such as ATL, Chicago, NYC and LA. This is probably driven by my love of automobiles and the excitement I get from driving them. I am a car show aficionado and I love the NYC Auto Show and Buffalo Auto Show. I have plans to hopefully make it out west for the L.A. auto show in the near future. I believe that things are placed on this earth for everyone to enjoy, especially the finer things in life. I hope to one day be able to travel the world and write a book on everything I’ve experienced and seen from my travels while always keeping God first.

 

What would be a typical Saturday with your companion?

My typical Saturday with my companion would be doing some lite shopping in the morning maybe grabbing a bite to eat for lunch then for the evening me and my partner cooking a meal together and sitting down having a nice dinner with a great conversation followed by some cuddle time in front of the TV or fire place that would be my typical Saturday.

What are the top five ways your potential companion could know you are attracted to them?

Hmmm this is a great question and a hard question. First I would say by the way I react around them. I’m a very affectionate person if I really like you I might hold your hand or I might totally act like I’m not attracted to you just to see what you do and how you react to me. Secondly, I would say if I try to spend more time with the person, maybe catching a movie or just going somewhere and talking. Third, maybe inviting them to an event I know they would love or out to see a play or a concert. Fourth, just being there when they need it. Everyone needs someone to brighten their day every now and then. Finally, fifth I would say surprising them with a gift or something one of kind that I know they would love.

Briefly describe what you would consider a perfect first date?

My perfect first date would be doing something out of the ordinary like going go-karting or going for a boat ride. I hate the typical stuff like dinner and a movie. I liked to be surprised so surprise me.

What is your idea of fun?

My idea of fun is just living in the moment and enjoying every second of your life because the next second is not guaranteed to us I have seen and had friends and family members taken from me so fast that it really opened my eyes to see that we are truly blessed to be able to have life and to be able breath, speak, move and hear; so my motto is Do it like it’s the last Time ever.

Donatus Tetteh-Gikunno- Chicago, Il.

Well Hello Flyy-Life. My name is Donatus Tetteh-Gikunoo and I am 29 years old Virgo from Chicago IL. Maybe you’ve figured it out already my nationality is Ghanaian, French, and Native American. Debronski Kentreal Jefferson – Atlanta, GA

Hello Flyy-Life! My name is DeBronski Kentreal Jefferson and I’m a Sagittarius originally from Tylertown, MS. I lost my brother to suicide in 2004 and as my best friend in life, his words have had a lasting impact upon my life. He always told me to follow my dreams and don’t let nothing or nobody steer me away from it. These words inspired me so I later moved to Jackson, MS and started pursuing my college education in nursing. I attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and in the midst of school and working, I fathered a daughter. Her name is Ke’Nyiah and she has become the love of my life. My dream job would have to be in health care. The reason why I love the health care field so much is probably because I love being able to help people in need and those that can’t help themselves. I’m a comforter by nature…It’s a great thing. I also had dreams of becoming a model and in 2011, I got my first gig. I was a part of Papi underwear that year and also Zapzyt Facial Cleanser. Not bad for my first try…I currently live in Atlanta, GA, and I’ve have been in countless fashion shows around the city. I’m now working on revamping my portfolio, but because modeling doesn’t last forever, I plan to go into design and debut a collection of custom-made loafers for men and boys. Currently, I’m in my last two years of school and majoring in Occupational Therapy. When I’m done with school I want to work with more kids. Perhaps I will start my own clinic. My name is Deonta’ Moultry and I’m a mighty Leo that currently lives in the beautiful city of Tallahassee Florida. It’s a smaller city but there is an abundance of history and beautiful scenery that has been preserved with upmost care. Well Hello Flyy-Life, my name is Orlando Barnett and I’m a Taurus, born here in Jamaica. I love listening to Beyoncé (lol), reading, shopping and traveling. Greetings Flyy-Life. I’m Derill Sincere, a Libra and one of New Jersey’s top personal trainers and also a performing arts graduate. This jersey boy has always been a force to be reckon with and I’m confident my motivation and ambition will lead me to success. My Panamanian heritage combined with my grandmother and father tough pushing, has proven to work began working with people individually in a one-on-one atmosphere in 2012 and eventually became popular as the personal training industry took off. Clarence Williams (Stone Taylor) – Washington, D.C.

Wassup Flyy-Life. Born Clarence Williams May 19, 1980 in Washington D.C., I am a Taurus and the oldest of eleven children and got the name Stone Taylor because two of my best friends died in a car crash. To memorialize them, I took on both of their names (Stone & Taylor) and used it as my stage name. I immediately threw myself into poetry as means of expressing myself and traversing through life difficulties. I became a fixture within my community and garnered a scholarship to the University of Berkley, California. After three successful years, immediate family responsibilities required me to come home and I completed my education at the University of the District of Columbia. I view myself as being compassionate, artistic and caring. I’m focused on my goals by I hold my commitments and responsibilities in very high esteem. I am a poet, so words are sacred to me. Once I give my word, it becomes my bond. I’m loyal and enjoy an intimate connection that extends beyond sex. I am one that likes to enjoy my partners mind, body and soul. Briefly describe what you would consider a perfect first date?

A perfect date to me would be picking up my date at his place and going to a wonderful cozy restaurant and having a table near a fireplace with candles lit. We would begin with champagne and some light appetizers. Then we would start the main course. There would be an orchestra playing in a nearby dance area. After dinner we would dance for a few hours and listen to the romantic music. Next we would take a relaxing walk near the lake and admire the ducks and geese. And have a nice glass of wine. Then the rest would be left to your imagination!

What is your definition of romance?

I think that real romance is found in actions. For example, caring about what the person has to say, not just listening but being interested and stimulated by their thoughts and opinions. It’s being loyal and being there for someone when they are down, or when they need help in some way. It can be something as simple as a smile at the right time, or a touch on the arm, a gesture that shows that you care.

What is your idea of fun?

I’m pretty open minded but a good conversation should be able to meander, and involves listening as well as talking. One that you come away from feeling like you’ve learned something, or you’ve gained an insight into a previously unexplored perspective. It’s boring being agreed with, and arguments are only fun when they’re considered and both sides are heard.

What is your ultimate turn on?

My ultimate turn-on would have to be confidence! Yep, that gets the heart beating faster and the “motor” running.
