It’s widely known that the “flyy” component of Chicago’s urban LGBT community began to die roughly two-three years ago.  Closing 2018, our reality is that we’ve transitioned from a city with a highly respected night-life;  partying in the chicest locations, amongst the most beautiful people, – to now calling the archaic and dilapidated neighborhood lounge – located in the most crime and poverty-stricken area of the city – our “club.”  As a city, when you endorse and incentivize mediocrity and ratchetness, the outcome tends to be a location barren of “grown-man” sophistication.  It was a breath of fresh air to be invited to High Society’s “Good Vibes”, Thursday night mixer. Located 600 S. Clark in downtown Chicago, the intimate setting made the perfect locale to engage with peers of like minds. Good Vibes was the perfect theme, as the energy in the building was comprised of the most beautiful, yet selective, faces and individuals of the city. Celebrity DJ, Scott Gucci Roxx put his eclectic spin on the chart toppers, and the waitstaff was most effective and efficient at the bar.

Scott has informed me that for right now, at most, this is a monthly pop-up event just for fun. Personally, I feel this is just what the city needs to interject a sense of FAB back into our domicile. The aura of the night gave very much “they patiently waiting for my demise, but my success can’t be quantified…. Fuck you…Fuck you… Your crew…fuck you.” When I think about it, I really enjoy the fellas of High Society. They’ve mastered their craft and function with a mindset of giving back and setting standards; while being chic and customer oriented. The function was at the right “spot” with the right “people!” As I uber home to prepare for work the next day, I become humble and grateful. Reviewing the life of me and my close friends, I realize “we can do anything, yeah, hell naw!!”  …. I’ll definitely be in the building again next month.  Cheers!!! Deo
