…But Forever’s Blown Away… 2019 In Memoriam…

By: DeoVonte “Deo” Means

…I don’t know where this road Is going to lead. All I know is where we’ve been and what we’ve been through… And if we get to see tomorrow, I hope it’s worth all the wait…It’s hard to say goodbye to yesterday… -Boyz II Men (1992)

This  renowned song- written by Motown husband-and-wife songwriting team Freddie Perren and Christine Yarian for the 1975 film Cooley High – became iconic in 1992 when legendary  Boyz II Men dedicated performances of this song to their tour manager, Khalil Roundtree, after he was murdered in Chicago when the band was on tour with MC Hammer. As we conclude not only another year, but also another decade, we pause and acknowledge those fallen angels amongst us whom the Architect of the Universe – in his sovereignty and divine knowledge – summoned back home. We may not always understand or agree with workings of our Father, yet our faith teaches us to trust Gods plan and carry on. As we pick up the banner and continue the plight, we find comfort in remembering the good times that made us laugh outweighed the bad. We’ve learned that life can be harsh and unexplainable at times and like a cruel joke, we thought we’d get to see forever, but forever’s gone away. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. As we embark upon the ever-moving future, we take time to honor and remember those we lost this past year. Although they are no longer amongst us, their lives were not in vain. They left a mark here and we’ll take with us the memories to be our sunshine after the rain. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. Thy Will Be Done…. RIP…….Deo
